Waiting on the Lord
Waiting on the Lord as I watch the day pass by.
Hummingbirds hum and bees buzz.
They've been waiting through many cold spells for the days of wildflowers;
Who've been waiting for the rains to nourish the ground,
Waiting for the sun to shine down,
As warmer temperatures emerge.
The Jays and the Wrens have been waiting for the bugs to return,
And the snow to melt,
To fatten up and build their nests for future families.
Everything returns to where it was this time last year.
The afternoon clouds roll in like clock work,
As they wait for the moisture to stockpile into rain.
The pattern returns, and the days repeat.
And I'm left waiting as I've waited before.
Waiting for resolution,
Only to be met by a soulful reminder.
History's repeating.
The dawn comes again.
And the worries feel small, yet again,
We wait.
